Acute symptomatic seizures in newborns can be associated with poor neurodevelopmental outcomes (including death, disability, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, but also psychological and emotional issues, learning disabilities, hearing and visual impairments [1–3]. The main etiologies for acute symptomatic seizures are represented by hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), intraventricular haemorrhage, and stroke. Additional causes include central nervous system infections, and glyco-electrolytes imbalances.
