Epilepsy is a neurological disorder that affects almost 50 million people around the world.[1] It is characterized by the disturbance of electric activity in the brain and can be attributed to various etiologies.[2,3] People living with epilepsy and their families face psychological, physical, and social consequences, leading to a significant burden.[1–3] Treatment is primarily focused on the control of seizures (e.g., antiseizure medications [ASMs), with monotherapy being the first-line treatment, followed by polytherapy based on seizure control and the severity of epilepsy.
