Is severe head injury associated with functional (psychogenic) seizures?

Functional seizures (FS), also known as psychogenic nonepileptic seizures (PNES) or dissociative seizures (DS), are characterized by paroxysmal, involuntary, and time-limited changes in behavior, motor activity, sensation, autonomic functions, and/or cognition (including impairment in responsiveness) [1]. These events look like those encountered in epileptic seizures, but are neither explained nor explainable by abnormally excessive neuronal epileptic activity [2]. The pathophysiology of FS is still poorly understood.
