Seizures caused by brain tumors in children

Pediatric brain tumors are the second cause of pediatric cancer [1–4] and the leading cause of cancer mortality in children [5,6]. Seizures are one of the most common symptoms of pediatric brain tumors, both as presenting symptom or appearing during the course of the disease [7,8]. In this review of the literature, we summarize the main epidemiology, clinical features, and treatment of seizures caused by pediatric brain tumors. We also provide a brief summary on the current understanding of the pathophysiology that may contribute to seizures in patients with brain tumors.
