Complete callosotomy in children with drop attacks; A retrospective monocentric study of 50 patients

Drop attacks occurring during drug-resistant epilepsy are a source of major deterioration in the quality of life of patients and may be responsible for severe traumatic injury [1]. Epileptic drop attacks are sudden falls due to atonic, tonic, myoclonic seizures or infantile spasms. Therapeutic options are limited and patients are often forced to wear a helmet at all times or even to remain seated and strapped to a seat. The fall is most often due either to a loss of muscle tone or conversely hypertonia, resulting from secondary generalization of the epileptic seizure.
